Cake decorating

We will be posting our cake decorating adventures here. More to come!
Here was Clara's first fondant attempt.







More details at the baking blog here. This was quite tasty due to the addition of lemon curd and Grand Marnier. To get an idea of its consistency for rolling and spreading, I covered a banana bran cupcake and rolled out some roses. After several weeks in the fridge it has maintained its structure very nicely.

Don't worry, we won't make you eat 4-week-old bran cupcake. In addition to a delicious dessert buffet we will have a three-tiered wedding cake:

  1. Traditional wedding fruit cake, made by Clara's mum Yolande (a special recipe for people who don't like fruit cake)

  2. Carrot cake, Clara's favourite cake, made by Clara (carrots grated by Dave)

  3. Sour cream chocolate cake, Dave's favourite cake, made by Dave
